South Africa win ODI series against New Zealand

Hashim Amla made a superb 92 to lead South Africa to an emphatic ODI series-clinching six-wicket win over New Zealand in Napier.

Amla smacked 12 hours in his 107-ball knock and JP Duminy contributed a quickfire 43 as the Proteas reached 231 for four with more than 11 overs to spare. Earlier Morne Morkel had taken five wickets as New Zealand collapsed from 163 for two to 230 all out, despite 85 from Brendon McCullum and 58 from Martin Guptill. Morkel finished with five for 38 and Lonwabo Tsotsobe three for 43 as the Black Caps lost eight for 67 in 16 overs on a flat wicket.

The visitors, who went 2-0 up in the three-match series, never looked in danger of not reaching their target, despite the early loss of Jacques Kallis (four). Guptill then produced a brilliant catch to dismiss Francois du Plessis (34), taking the ball on the boundary and then, with his momentum taking him over the rope, throwing it in the air and catching it again as he stepped back in play.
